Тіні забутих предків

Based on the novel of the same name by Mykhailo Kotsyubynskyi. In a small Hutsul village in the Ukrainian Carpathians, a young man named Ivan fell in love with Marichka, a girl whose father killed his father. Preparing for the wedding, Ivan goes to earn money, and while he is gone, Marichka, saving a lamb, drowns in a mountain river. Ivan's grief is accompanied by the harmonious rhythms of archaic Hutsul life, the splendor of weddings and funerals, the change of seasons and the beauty of nature.
